Presentation Facilities
The following facilities will be provided at the Technical Sessions:
Overhead projector
Notebook PC with MS Office
PC/video projector
The Local Organizing Committee will provide a
notebook PC with MS Office (including PowerPoint). The PC can read
1.44 floppies, USB memory stick and ordinary CDs, but not DVDs. Authors are recommended
to bring their own lap-top for the presentation.
Presentation Instructions
Each author will be permitted 20
minutes for presentation. The presentation time is limited so as to allow
enough time for questions and discussion, which are an important aspect of the
Conference. It is important to do a trial run of your presentation to avoid
interruption in the midstream. Remember this is an international audience,
therefore you may have to speak a little more slowly than usual.
In order
to communicate your research most effectively, please:
Concentrate on the main concepts;
Avoid detailed derivations and formulas;
Present the main results and their significance;
Keywords
to gain the audience attention are : simplicity and conciseness. Simplicity
means one idea at a time (one idea per slide). Conciseness means (also to be
compliant with sessions timing) not more than 15 slides, and that slides and
projections are not being cluttered.
Slides
and overheads should preferably be horizontal (landscape) formatted. Colour
slides should use a relatively dark-coloured background and any details in
clear contrasting colours. Text or word slides are used to make statements of
facts or objectives. Complete sentences should be avoided. In order to
emphasize key points use bullets within a text slide. When lines of text do not
illustrate your point, consider using a chart or a graph. The font sizes should
be 36-point type for titles 18-point type for text. A good average is a number
of lines lower than ten on a text slide.
